Who we Are
With 50 years of Algonquin Park outfitting experience operating The Portage Store, between 1976 to 2023, we have now moved our operation to a new location and are excited to offer Algonquin Park travellers with a new and exciting outfitting service at The Portage Outpost.
What is The Portage Outpost? Quite simply, an Algonquin Park canoe-camping outfitters operated and staffed by awesome people dedicated to offering the best customer service at the best value. Same laid-back vibes, same dedication to customer satisfaction you’ve come to know us for.
Known as the last stop before the park, we’re now located at 5280 HWY 60, Algonquin Highlands, near Algonquin Park’s West gate.

Such a fantastic company!
The really go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy and satisfied! We recently had a big trip to Algonquin and ordered about 20 tents plus kayaks, sleeping bags, etc. The 2 staff members who made the delivery, Oceanna and Caleb, didn’t just drop off our order, NO they stayed and set up all our tents and even helped deliver them to the individual campsites and made sure everything was good before they left! They were so kind and helpful and polite. We were so grateful.

Very Prompt & Professional Service
I was very satisfied with the service I received from Nick and Kyle down by the Lake of Two Rivers beach this morning. They were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a safe and relaxing canoe adventure. They even helped us get off shore and gave us recommendations for different sight seeing opportunities on the lake.

After an exhausting workweek, arriving at Algonquin Park for our canoe trip was a breeze, all thanks to Oceania and her impeccable planning. Everything was packed and ready to go; it was pure convenience. The food was thoughtfully packaged, and the abundance of gear ensured we were more than prepared. In fact, we probably could have opted for a smaller package. An unforgettable journey, filled with cherished memories. Only hitch? Oceania, how could you forget the coffee? All in all, a trip I'd recommend to anyone.
